One of a pair of Commodes in the Regency manner, in Rosewood and Ebony with Gilt mouldings, Ormolu Mounts and Bianco Carrara Marble tops. The centres of the fretted 'wheels' contain carved portraits in low relief of the owner and his family in Boxwood. These commodes are an amalgamation of two separate designs produced by Henry Holland at the beginning of the Nineteenth century. All of the construction methods used are faithful to the period, and the heavily patinated finish adds an air of authenticity to what are, in essence, fine copies of an antique piece.
