This massive Doorcase takes its inspiration directly from the Italian Renaissance. Made in ‘Lynham Bowers Whitbed’, a stone rich in fossil deposits and subtle veining, it was first worked by hand, then shot-blasted with glass beads to open up the ’pores’, and finally distressed at the edges to give the appearance of great age. Its installation in a contemporary interior further enhances the appearance of age by providing a textural contrast with the modern finishes that surround it.
